Festivals and special events will be taking place throughout the month, with highlights including country music performances by Toby Keith, Darius Rucker, and LeAnn Rimes. Also making an appearance this June is the San Diego International Beer Festival — the largest on the west coast. The San Diego summer events seemingly don’t stop, and we’ve saved the most widely known for last. Comic Con 2017 returns to the San Diego Convention Center with massive attendance numbers once again taking shape. The event began as a small get together at the US Grant Hotel in 1970, and has since expanded to the largest convention of its kind in the world. Two years ago, the announced attendance was over 167,000 with events taking over the downtown area and beyond. Comic Con attendees spend the four-day weekend taking in panels and workshops from famous comic-book professionals, along with star-studded seminars and previews of highly anticipated movies and video games.
